BIO (source: Wikipedia) Ormond McGill (born 1913 in Palo Alto, California, died October 19, 2005, also in Palo Alto, CA) was the "Dean of American Hypnotists". McGill became interested in magic as a kid (he was also pretty legendary in magic circles), taking up hypnosis in 1927 while still a teenager. He wrote the seminal "Encyclopedia of Genuine Stage Hypnotism" (the acknowledged bible of stage hypnotism) in 1947, and continued to teach courses and lecture right up until a few days before his death.
From 1947 to 1954, McGill performed hypnotism and magic under the stage name of Dr. Zomb. His "Seance of Wonders" show featured horror-themed routines and costumed assistants typical of the midnight "Spook Shows" which were popular during that era.
In addition to his career as a world-traveling magician and stage hypnotist, McGill was also a skilled hypnotherapist and a student of Eastern mysticism. He wrote somewhere between twenty-five and forty books (sources disagree on the total), including such titles as "Grieve No More Beloved" (about his afterlife contact with his deceased wife), "Hypnotism and Mysticism in India," and his autobiography, "The Amazing Life of Ormond McGill."
MY BEST FRIEND and the true “Dean of American Hypnotists” Ormond McGill, left this world a much better place by being an inspiration to hypnotists and magicians the world over. We worked together and had so much fun together, with many adventures and wonderful times shared here in America and in England. I honor his legacy and knowledge by continuing to bring his “truths’ and wisdom to those who want to learn.
Ormond always insisted I video tape our discussions, and to one day release these wonderful works for the world to see, enjoy and learn from. Many hypnotists are not aware of his gifts in teaching, healing and creating a bridge between eastern and western hypnosis. He was the most spiritual and enlightened person I have ever met in my life. I am thankful that he bestowed upon me many special private and even secret methods that I use in my practice and in my life.
Ormond was my friend. I know he would be proud of the fact that I will continue on with his work, teaching and striving to create a bond of friendship amongst all hypnotherapists. He wanted all hypnotists to work together, and I will continue on with his cause of uniting the hypnotherapy community.
Because of video taping our conversations at his house and the world can really get to know who he was. He was much more than a stage hypnotist or a magician. He was and is a sage, a healer, a teacher, a gentle human being, a giver to all and he had God in his heart.
I recently came across some lost manuscripts that he wrote years ago, and even a few that we wrote together and never released. I will be presenting these lost and forgotten secret manuscripts/books to those who wish to learn.
I will keep my promise to Ormond by continuing the work and research that we started together . He will always remain my best friend in memory, like a father to me and like my brother.
